CrackBond TE Procedures

High performance, injectable, epoxy based resin.

Applications
For bonding masonry cracks; for filling voids; for strengthening porous masonry.

Features

  • non-shrink, thixotropic resin
  • flows easily under pressure to fill cracks and voids
  • fills cracks from 2mm 10mm wide
  • will penetrate gaps down to 0.1mm wide with porting
  • gels rapidly and cures within 24 hours
  • combines with substrate to create high strength bond
  • avoids the need for brick removal
  • two-part, nozzle-mixed epoxy resin

Benefits

  • quick and easy to use
  • ideal for all types of weak, porous and cracked masonry
  • no mixing vessels or paddle mixers required
  • no mess, spillage or wastage
  • cartridges are part usable
  • automatic mixing to correct consistency

Storage
Store in cool, dry conditions between +5°C and +15°C.

Expose and clean crack with a wire brush or compressed air to remove all loose particles and ensure crack is free of any deposits of grease, oil and dust.
Drill 6.5mm ø hole into crack to a depth of 30mm in the centre of each cracked brick
Starting with the lowest hole, carefully inject CrackBond TE into each hole and allow to flow until visible.
Allow resin to gel and then make good the surface.

Performance Data

Gel time: (200g mass at 20°C) 20-30 minutes
Specific Gravity: 1.00-1.02
Compressive strength: 45MN/m²
Modulus: 2.5GN/m²
Shrinkage: (free debonded) Negligible

Points to note

A Successful application depends on thorough preparation of the crack which must be completely dry and free from any loose particles, oil and grease.

B For cracks less than 2mm down to 0.1mm, injection with CrackBond TE is possible but only by sealing the surface of the crack and incorporating injection ports which will allow pressure to be developed.

C The successful application of CrackBond TE in wider cracks from 5-20mm is dependant upon factors such as the shape and dimension of the crack, its orientation and the total volume of the material to be placed.

D With a new cartridge, remove the screw cap and red plug and secure the mixer nozzle. With a part used cartridge, clean away dried material before fixing the new mixer nozzle.

E Place cartridge in applicator gun and dispense small amount to waste until colour is consistent.

F CrackBond TE should be injected gently to avoid resin flowing over the brick faces.
