Fixed up at Homebase

Homebase, the well-known chain of DIY superstores, is to stock TurboFast, our versatile multi-purpose fixing. The first stores have already started to receive supplies and this will roll out over the next few months so that by the end of the year all 280 Homebase centres nationwide will carry TurboFast.
Having been impressed by demonstrations of TurboFast, Homebase approved the new line and will be selling packs of 10 and 25 of the gold coloured carbon steel versions of TurboFast in lengths of 70mm and 100mm. As well as the fixings, the smart, clear plastic packs, in Homebase house style, will contain an instruction sheet on various TurboFast uses together with technical information on spacing and substrate penetration. The packs are to be displayed in the stores' fixings section with a full colour header board promoting the benefits of TurboFast and showing examples of where to use the high performance timber/masonry fixing. With staff training and in-store demonstrations by Homebase to establish TurboFast within the DIY sector, we are excited at the prospect of reaching, and gaining, a valuable share of a much wider market with our well-established and practical alternative to screws and nails.

Interbuild 2000

"An extremely successful show where we were as busy as ever and made a lot of useful new contacts, despite visitor numbers to the show being down on previous years - we'll certainly be busy following up leads for some time to come.
Also, this was our first custom built stand and it worked well, allowing us to demonstrate our product range clearly while producing an impressive image that reflected the continuing development of Helifix as a whole." These were the views of Bob Paterson, MD of Helfix, after this year's Interbuild exhibition which again proved a worthwhile event. Visitors were able to prove to themselves the speed and ease of product installation, discuss specific structural problems and view the newly upgraded and expanded Helifix website at

SYMPATHETIC BRIDGE RESTORATION

Helifix Approved Installer, Period Property Preservation Ltd, carried out the work of sympathetically restoring the structure, which will form part of the national network of Cycle Ways, by using our stress-free Helibeam System of concealed masonry repair and reinforcement. The 50m long bridge, which carries a busy main road over a disused railway cutting, compromises three 8m arches, each with a 9m span, and required 200m of bonded HeliBar rods to stitch the cracked masonry, principally on the soffits.

To secure the separated brick rings, over 2,000 grouted CemTies were installed while some 8,000 weathered bricks were replaced and pinned to the structure using unobtrusive DryFix ties. The restored bridge now retains its original appearance while being safe for cyclists and pedestrians using the new route that passes beneath it. As part of the Lakenham Way Cycle/Footpath Development, a bridge formerly owned by British Rail, has undergone significant structural repairs to bring it up to standard for adoption by Norfolk County Council.
